Gro\u00dfheringen – Naumburg<\/h2>\n

This tour leads fellow paddlers towards the cliffs entering Germany’s most northern winegrowing region. All guests meet prior to the tour at our station in Naumburg, from where the transfer to the entry point in Gro\u00dfheringen starts. After a few instructions you will enter the boats underneath two ruins, which are located high above the river on your right side\u2013 the Medieval <\/span>Rudelsburg<\/span> and <\/span>Saaleck<\/span> Forts <\/span><\/p>\n

It was during his stay at the <\/span>Rudelsburg<\/span> in 1826, that poet and historian, Franz Kugler, was inspired to write the song \u201cAn der Saale <\/span>Hellem<\/span> Strande<\/span>\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you like, you can take a small rest in the quaint <\/span>therapeutic city<\/span> of Bad K\u00f6sen. Here you can breathe the <\/span>rejuvenating<\/span> salty sea air produced from the \u201c<\/span>Gradierwerk<\/span>\u201d<\/span> twig<\/span> towers,<\/span> or literally translated, \u201cGraduation Towers\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Continuing down the Saale you will pass <\/span>picturesque vineyard<\/span>s of Bad K\u00f6sen and <\/span>Kloster<\/span> Pforta<\/span> Monastery. The views here are breath taking, as t<\/span>owering <\/span>cliffs<\/span> seem to<\/span> appear <\/span>directly out of the water.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shortly before arriving in Naumburg the river quickens, creating a rapid. At this point in the tour you will experience a \u201cpass-around point\u201d. Here you must exit the river with your canoe, and re-enter a short walk down stream. As you continue on your way down the Saale you will be able to experience the joining of the <\/span>Ustrutt<\/span> River and the Saale. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is important to note that in the last stretch of the river, motorboats are permitted and could cross your path. <\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, the city of Naumburg will appear on the right side of the river, with its famous Cathedral and Wenzel-Church, designed in the late gothic style. Here the Saale spreads into a <\/span>wide<\/span> riverbed<\/span> as it continues its journey through the Saale River Va<\/span>lley<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

At our station in Naumburg-Henne the tour ends; however, feel free to explore the quintessential German city of Naumburg and <\/span>it\u2019s<\/span> picturesque architecture.<\/span><\/p>\n
