Jena – Porstendorf<\/h2>\n

This tour begins in the vibrant city of Jena at the \u201c<\/span>Gries<\/span>-Bridge\u201d and leads the participants down the river towards Jena-Kunitz<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the tour you will experience a \u201cpass-around point\u201d for which you will have to exit the river with your canoe, and re-enter a short distance <\/span>down stream<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

As you make your way down the Saale River and surrounding forests, you may catch a glimpse of several native animals; the<\/span> turquoise river kingfisher, <\/span>various types of heron<\/span>, cormorants and<\/span>\/or<\/span> nutrias<\/span> all in their natural habitat<\/span>. If you are l<\/span>ucky, you may even see turtles and European O<\/span>tter<\/span>s!<\/span><\/p>\n

Before you reach <\/span>Porstendorf<\/span> the r<\/span>iver splits into t<\/span>w<\/span>o<\/span> branches at the pass around point<\/span>. Here you choose<\/span> the exit on the left to the<\/span> shorter<\/span>,<\/span> more <\/span>vigorous branch heading to<\/span> a<\/span> camping <\/span>site<\/span> and beer garden at <\/span>Porstendorf’s<\/span> “<\/span>Rabeninsel”<\/span> (\u201cRaven\u2019s Island\u201d)<\/span>.<\/span> All guests can make their way back using the organized transfer to the starting point in Jena after their arrival.
