Bad K\u00f6sen – Naumburg<\/h2>\n

This tour begins in the quaint therapeutic city of Bad K\u00f6sen. <\/span>Here you can breathe the <\/span>rejuvenating<\/span> salty air produced from the \u201c<\/span>Gradierwerk<\/span>\u201d<\/span> twig<\/span> towers, or<\/span> literally translated, \u201cGraduation Towers\u201d.<\/span> .<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the tour you will experience 1 \u201cPass-around Point\u201d for which you will have to exit the river with your canoe, and re-enter a short distance <\/span>down stream<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Beginning your journey down the Saale River and through surrounding forests, you may catch a glimpse of several native animals; the<\/span> turquoise river kingfisher, <\/span>various types of heron, cormorants, and<\/span> nutrias<\/span> all in their natural habitat<\/span>. If you are l<\/span>ucky, you may even see turtles and European O<\/span>tter<\/span>s!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Continuing down the Saale you will pass <\/span>picturesque vineyard<\/span>s of Bad K\u00f6sen and <\/span>Kloster<\/span> Pforta<\/span> Monastery. The views here are breath taking as t<\/span>owering <\/span>cliffs<\/span> seem to<\/span> appear <\/span>directly <\/span>out of <\/span>the water.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Shortly before arriving in Naumburg the river quickens, creating a rapid. At this point in the tour you will experience a \u201cpass-around point\u201d.\u00a0 Here you must exit the river with your canoe, and re-enter a short walk down stream.\u00a0 As you continue on your way down the Saale you will be able to see the joining of the <\/span>U<\/span>n<\/span>strut<\/span> River and the Saale.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is important to note that in the last stretch of the river, motorboats are permitted and could cross your path.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, the city of Naumburg will appear on the right side of the river, with its famous cathedral and Wenzel-Church, designed in the late gothic style.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
