Description
Dornburg – Camburg
At the meeting-point in Dornburg you can see to your left the Dornburger Palaces: the Renaissance Castle, the Rococo Castle and the Old Castle, where Johann Wolfgang Goethe used to vacation.
For taking a break, a stopover at the camping ground in Döbritschen is the best option. Advanced paddlers can even take the boat-slide on the right side of the dam and directly paddle to the campingground, of course only in kayaks or canadians, teams in tube-rafts will have to land on the left side of the dam to carry their boat around.
Throughout the tour you will paddle by small islands, and experience small rapids, which keep the tour adventurous. From Dornburg to Camburg the Saale continues to wind through the Saale River Valley along impressive cliffs and teaming forests.
The trip ends in Camburg at the “Wasseranderplatz” picnic area, just before the dam
